A few Daffodils

Monday, February 16, 2009

There are a LOT of little buds that have not bloomed, but here is the beginning (:
We seem to have tons of little clusters of daffodils around the house. I think its lovely! It was kind of chilly and I was wearing shorts so this is the pic you get!

Isabelle

I am sure by this point its like " How many pets does she have?!? " Well, I have three cats, two dogs, and a beautiful beta fish. We used to have a pet rat, but she passed recently from cancer ): She was old for a rat, she had a super life with us though. How many rats can say they got to attack cats? She would leap at the cats and grab their fur if they got too close to her -- interesting I know? Anyway, I have a big heart for animals and I hate seeing homeless creatures. As long as we have the money and I have the time, they are where my heart is (: All of our cats are rescues (one way or another) and our miniature schnauzer Sophie is also a rescue. The only non rescue we have is Willy, because every little dog needs a big little brother LOL..anyway. Here is the page I made for Isabelle.

I am SO excited. Our Daffodils are starting to bloom.

Fun with Gifs (GIFINKIES)

Thursday, February 12, 2009

An excellent tutorial is posted here on how to make your very own super dooper action packed blinkie. I have been trying to do this new thing of following directions exactly, because I usually do my own thing -- and seeing how it goes. So consider this the first success. Lol.

Bright green is my favorite color and tulips are by far my favorite flower (:

Are Furry. haha.

Here is what I made tonight using:
Dranet Flowers and Boxes - template
CMS Felty dog - backgrounds
Cecil - greenpepper kit- glittery swirl thing
Nanine Elements - Stiching frame
Mimilou -Souffle Kit - glitter flowers

This was the first one I made:

Then I made one for Sophie(its prettier):

It took three hours..

I quickly realized it was nearly impossible to go through each file/folder every time I wanted something. I broke down all of my folders as follows:

It took me about three hours..I did not realize I had as much stuff as I do. I just keep downloading! (Hahaha). So anyway, now I have my main folder which is scrapbooking> ALL files including my original sets where the shortcuts lead back to so I can identify each piece + all my categories. I am not sure how other people go about doing this, but that is how I am doing it for now. It seems easy enough, as I download new stuff it will go into the scrapbooking folder uncategorized and stand our like a sore thumb waiting for me to move it into the original files folder and then divvy out all the shortcuts to their new destinations.

Is there an easier way? Lol.

First page

This was the first page I have done so go easy. It was a lot of fun creating this, choosing the photos and colors. I know it is kind of simple, but its a start. Hopefully they get bigger and better (:

Changed Slightly

I added a few changes to my layout. Because I run a wide screen resolution I know what I see and what you see may be slightly different. Let me know if things are or are not lined up (:

Anyway, here is a thumbnail of the background I see when I view my blog. Enjoy!

Layout fun/practice

Tuesday, February 10, 2009

I started out tonight making a rather simple design.
Elements used in it are from:
Kit Alpha Black and White by Mimilou
October 2008
http://mimiscrapdigital.com/blog/
http://scrapmalin.com

I progressed into something a little more difficult using elements from:
Kit Green Pepper by Cécile & Thaliris
December 2008
http://thaliris.canalblog.com/
http://www.digital-crea.fr
Then I thought to myself "this does not have to have both sides matching". And voila, a new layout was born. I have optimized the background to look the best from a wide screen perspective so you may see it a little differently than I do. In any event, here is a thumbnail of my current fullscreen view.

It truly is fun!

Thanks to a long time friend who will remain nameless (haha), I have been sucked into the blogging/crafting/and mostly scrap-booking junkie vortex. But it is OH so fun!!! Please take a moment to enjoy my new beautiful layout (: Credits and information about the kits I used can be found on the lower right side of my blog.

Now that my crafting blog is appropriately decorated, I think it is time to start digitally scrap-booking.

One-Block Wonder

Thursday, February 5, 2009

One-Block Wonders are what my sewing career will hopefully soon aspire to. I think the designs and finished pieces are absolutely beautiful. I am learning to enjoy various crafts that are quite tedious to be fine art-forms. Without further adieu, let me introduce One-Block Wonders to you. The same piece of pattern is cut (exactly) six times to create six identicle sides (a hexagon). You do this over and over, as you can see from the example to the right. The example below demonstrates a closer perspective of this technique using a different pattern so you can get a better feel for what is going on.

Sewing Inspirations

I have recently started relearning how to crochet and sew. To be honest, sewing is a lot harder than I remembered it being. Also, I have a hard time cutting fabric straight so that probably does not help my case at all. Anyway, once I can sew a straight line again, I have found something I am extremely interested and excited about working on. They are called One-Block Wonders. Basically, you take a fabric which has some huge repetitive print on it and you make a hexagon with 6 identical pieces of fabric. This link shows a completed piece which is one of my current favorites so far, it also demonstrates another OBW technique, the squares. (The image to the right is not a one-block wonder example.)
